Well, it's been rumored on and off for the last couple of years and it is finally confirmed. Percy Jackson...oh, sorry...Peter Jackson will be directing the Hobbit. Production begins in February. Read the following article from IMDB (and while we are on that subject, lets just say I am a tad disappointed with their new layout...just saying). Please don't pass out, I'd hate to be the cause of so many head injuries in nerds across the world.

Can I just say it's about time? They've been having trouble getting the green light forever! And then when they had it with a differenct director and such, more things came up putting it on hold yet again! I'm glad this is finally going to be put together. The Hobbit is one of my favorite stories and I'm excited to see what they do with it.
